Strategic Planning Background & Process
Arizona Language Preparatory’s need for a strategic plan was identified during the 2018-2019 school year. Beginning the 2019-2020 school year, a group of stakeholders was put together. This group began with the Arizona Department of Education’s Standards and Rubric for School Improvement, learning how to identify evidence and utilize the rubric. Five areas in need of strategic planning were identified: Finance/Building Acquisition, Governance, Effective Teaching, Student Performance, and Family Engagement.
Stakeholders are an invaluable part of the ALP school community. To contextualize the process of obtaining stakeholder input, ALP had two rounds of input from a varied group of stakeholders throughout the SWOT/C analysis, one in 2019 and the other in 2022. One of these input sessions was completed before the work of this project and prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. As the team revisited the patterns and trends from the stakeholder analysis, they considered and chose to bring another group to analyze how their opinions had changed or remained the same, based on changing conditions and factors.
